Scattering and homogenization with small dipoles

چکیده

We consider homogenization questions related to Maxwell partial differential equations. More precisely, we consider an assembly of particles, viewed as dipoles, separated in a peridioc way with a typical lenght denoted by ". The size of each dipole is denoted by r ". Depending on the relative size of these two scales, we describe the limiting partial differential equations, showing a typical discontinuity in the effective frequency. (MSC)-2000: 35Q60, 35B27.

On the Optimum Directivity of Uniformly Spaced Broadside Arrays of Parallel Half-Wave Dipoles (RESEARCH NOTES)

The nominal directivity for uniformly spaced broadside parallel half-wave dipoles associated with a uniform excitation is evaluated. The amplitude distribution for an optimized directivity is then obtained for different numbers of elements with the separations between the dipoles as a variable. The optimum and nominal directivities are compared for different spacings of the elements. While thes...

Riken-bnl Preprint Long–range Interactions of Small Color Dipoles

We study the scattering of small color dipoles (e.g., heavy quarkonium states) at low energies. We find that even though the couplings of color dipoles to the gluon field can be described in perturbation theory, at large distances the interaction becomes totally non–perturbative. The structure of the scattering amplitude, however, is fixed by the (broken) chiral and scale symmetries of QCD; the...

NLO Evolution of Color Dipoles in N = 4 SYM

The small-xB deep inelastic scattering in the saturation region is governed by the non-linear evolution of Wilson-line operators. In the leading logarithmic approximation it is given by the BK equation for the evolution of color dipoles. I discuss recent calculation of the next-to-leading order evolution of color dipoles in QCD and N = 4 SYM.

Oedipus: Onium Evolution, Dipole Interaction and Perturbative Unitarisation Simulation * Program Summary

OEDIPUS is a Monte Carlo simulation program which can be used to determine the small-x evolution of a heavy onium using Mueller's colour dipole formulation, giving the full distribution of dipoles in rapidity and impact parameter. Routines are also provided which calculate onium-onium scattering amplitudes between individual pairs of onium configurations, making it possible to establish the con...

Reconnecting Coloured Dipoles

Reconnections among the produced colour dipoles in the Dipole Cascade Model are discussed, and an implementation in the Ariadne program is presented. The reconnections are shown to have only small effects on event shapes at LEP 1, on the W mass determination at LEP 2 and on rapidity gaps in deep inelastic scattering at HERA. Submitted to Z. Phys.
